During the 2024 Paris Olympics, the entire area along both banks of the Seine River was cordoned off by police for security clearance ahead of the opening ceremony. Only residents living nearby with passes were permitted entry. So I snuck into the deserted streets and alleys along the riverbanks with my experimental music collaborators. Carrying video cameras and instruments, and performed wildly on the streets, fully savoring this hard-won quiet. Yet the moment I stood in that neighborhood, I could recall the usual bustling crowds and noise. Reality and memory intertwined, forming an even more chaotic image...
